thing 4

All this Web 2.0 is making my head spin. I grew up with books that you touched and but did not fold the pages. You didn't dare write in your book either! Now you can write in them, download them, and share your ideas for the whole world to see is now norm. Yikes! That is what scares me the most! Sharing my thoughts, my soul. This is what I have to overcome. One thing I do feel good about is that I feel I'm helping students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and respectful and collorbative fellow students. Now I just have to learn the technology that supports taking students into the 21st century.

I like how you included your fears and the benefits to Web 2.0. I agree the resources can be used to help students become critical thinkers. Do you plan on using these resources in your classroom?

Stacy, when I started working with my students I thought that I had to be the expert and I have discovered that I can learn from them. The students are proud when I ask them how to do something and they are able to show me. They will need to work collaboratively in the future so starting now is great practice. Elaine Adkins

I agree with Elaine. Teachers have got to learn they can't be the experts on everything any more. And what's the old saying, to teach is to learn twice? If we allow our students to teach each other and their teachers, haven't we helped them learn as well?
