I took a look through the various gadget/widget offerings and found many types with different functions. I could imagine using some of the automatically updating widgets, like one that proposed a science question of the day students could answer. A map could be used in social studies. I am not yet familiar with all of the map offerings, but perhaps there could be an interactive one with the information of different countries.

It is very hard for me to say what is the difference between a blog and a wiki, since I know very little about both. I have not used my blog since creating it except for responding to questions for web 2.0 23 things. I am sorry to say I just don't get the format. I can't find my way around it and I don't know who are my contacts are and when to follow whom. I know I am hopeless. I found e-mail to be challanging LOL. Now I have been introduced to wiki which means a simple way, I think. I do have to say that the wikispaces has more informational guidence and I am muddling my way through. By using a few of the teacher based wikis I am somewhat more excited to get started on using a wiki for classroom use. I have been wanting something that I can communicate with parents and students all in one place rather than e-mailing each parent or student.

As I said before the blog page is too complicated for me and won't even know where to begin to have students use it. On the other hand, I feel I can be more comfortable and productive with the wiki because they have it geared to educators and setting up classroom users.

I'm not sure what problems I will encounter when using wikispaces in the classroom yet, but I will have to depend on my tech man from monroe to help me.

This page is for high school science students. I would like to use a teacher page like this for my 5th & 6th grade students. I like how he has the classes he teaches listed. Has a copy of the science handbook available to refer to when needed. Also, other interests related to his curriculum.

This page was created by a 5th grade teacher to ask a question a month and hopefully receive 1000 answers per month. A new and improved way of the penpal concept. I see this project as a basic introduction to using the wiki philosophy of quickness and collaboration. I could use this idea in my class of posing related questions to a topic being taught and having students collaborate with listing what they have learned.

3. 91 7th and 8th Grade Create your own adventure story.

I found this to be an intriguing way of keeping a story going and a more updated way of peer editing. Since I teach Math and Science, I could use this in my classroom by having students solve a list mathematical problems and students would respond with the correct answer or in Science I could pose different questions pertaining to a topic. Students would check for correctness and when all students agreed, submit their answer(s).

I was wowed by the class blog with the pictures. The whole time I thought if I could only...I'm not really sure how I would use flickr. I have never been an avid photographer, so unfortunately I don't use a lot of pictures in my lesson plans or in my class. I have to be truthful; I envy those who are and it seems so simple for them to cut and paste and walah they have gorgeous pictures running on their desktops, in power points, and in newsletters and then there is me. I can't even figure out how to submit a picture to the miscdthings23 group. So for me to complete the bonus and make a badge, you have got to be kidding.

Professionally, social bookmarking can make the search for information less time consuming. You follow other's lead. How easy is that? Personally, in one of the articles, the author stated that today people go to the internet to help them fix anything and everything. My fellow teachers that are younger than me go to google to find out anything and everything. I know I am behind the eight ball on this because I have not learned how to utilize the accessability of information at your finger tips mentality. In the classroom, I'm not sure how to utilize del.icio.us. Any ideas?

Thing 2

I have never blogged before. I enjoy the person to person view when I communicate. I prefer the telephone than typing my thoughts. I have not read blogs before never really knew they existed. As I said before, I prefer person to person communication. I like to see the person I am talking to. Putting my thoughts out there for everyone to see is very scarey. My fears is that someone whom I don't know will have the opportunity to know me.
